লবণ ও চিংড়ি চাষিদের ভাগ্য উন্নয়নে আর্টেমিয়া চাষ

 

For the first time in Bangladesh, research on Artemia cultivation method has started. If the cultivation method of this study is implemented, the fate of the salt farmers of the country will change. In addition to salt production in the field, if Artemia is cultivated, salt farmers will get the price of salt on the one hand, and Artemia or shrimp pona food on the other. 

This will improve the fortunes of salt farmers on the one hand, and fishermen from the shrimp sector on the other. Artemia does not have to be imported from abroad. The country's export income will also increase. This information was given by the team leader of Artemia for Bangladesh project. Muhammad Mizanur Rahman. 

The information came during a two-day workshop on 'Artemia Cultivation at Cox's Bazar Salt Farm' in Kalatali, Cox's Bazar on September 22 and 23 under the 'Artemia for Bangladesh' project implemented by Worldfish Bangladesh with financial support from the European Union. 

কর্মশালায় সূচনা বক্তব্য রাখেন ওয়ার্ল্ডফিশের সিনিয়র সায়েন্টিস্ট ড. বিনয় কুমার বর্মন, জেলা মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা মো. খালেকুজ্জামান, বাংলাদেশ ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটির শিল্প করপোরেশনের ডিজিএম মুহাম্মদ হাফিজুর রহমান এবং সামুদ্রিক মৎস্য ও প্রযুক্তি কেন্দ্র, কক্সবাজারের জেষ্ঠ্য বৈজ্ঞানিক কর্মকর্তা জাকিয়া হাসান।

পরবর্তী সময়ে উক্ত প্রকল্পের টিম লিডার ড. মুহাম্মদ মীজানুর রহমান আর্টেমিয়া চাষ পদ্ধতি সম্পর্কিত তথ্য তুলে ধরেন। 

তিনি বলেন, বাংলাদেশে লবণ খামারে আর্টেমিয়া চাষ অনেক সম্ভাবনাময় একটি খাত, যা সম্ভব হলে লবণ চাষীদের তথা বাংলাদেশের মৎস্য সেক্টরে এক নতুন দিগন্তের সূচনা হবে বলে আশা করা যায়। 

তিনি আরও বলেন, বাংলাদেশে প্রতি বছর চিংড়ি হ্যাচারিতে ব্যবহারের উদ্দেশ্যে যে ৪০ মেট্রিক টন আর্টেমিয়া আমদানি করা হয়, কক্সবাজার জেলার লবণ খামারে আর্টেমিয়া চাষ প্রযুক্তির সম্প্রসারণ হলে বাংলাদেশে আর্টেমিয়া আমদানি নির্ভরতা কমে যাওয়ার পাশাপাশি রপ্তানি আয় বৃদ্ধির নতুন দ্বার উন্মোচন হবে।

উক্ত প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মশালায় অনলাইন ভিডিও কলের মাধ্যমে বেলজিয়ামের ঘেন্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রফেসর ড. প্যাট্রিক সরগিলস্ প্রশিক্ষক হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। 

তিনি বলেন, আর্টেমিয়া হলো এমন এক ধরনের জলজ ক্ষুদ্র জীব যা অধিক ঘনত্বের লবণ পানিতে চাষ করা হয় এবং সারা বিশ্বের এটি মাছ ও চিংড়ির জীবনচক্রের প্রাথমিক ধাপে খাদ্য হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়। তিনি তার মূল বক্তব্যে আর্টেমিয়ার জীবনচক্র, চাষের সম্ভাবনা, বিভিন্ন দেশে-এর বর্তমান চাষ পদ্ধতি ও কক্সবাজারে বাণিজ্যিকভাবে চাষের ক্ষেত্রে আর্টেমিয়া চাষ পদ্ধতির সকল ধাপসমূহের বিস্তারিত বর্ণনা করেন।

ওয়ার্ল্ডফিশ বাংলাদেশের কান্ট্রি ডিরেক্টর ক্রিস্টোফার প্রাইস প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মশালা বলেন, এশিয়ার অন্যান্য দেশের ন্যায় বাংলাদেশে আর্টেমিয়া চাষ কার্যক্রম সম্প্রসারণ করে লবণ চাষিদের আর্থসামাজিক উন্নয়ন করা অতীব জরুরি। 

He further said that if the 'Artemia for Bangladesh' project is successful, the socio-economic condition of the salt farmers of Cox's Bazar and further development of coastal and marine fish farming will be possible.

The workshop was attended by concerned officials of Cox's Bazar District Fisheries Department, Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation and Marine Fisheries and Technology Center, media representatives and all researchers of 'Artemia for Bangladesh' project. Provided.
